UFC 279: Changes, Preview, How to Watch, Final Card for Must-See Event

Well, That Escalated Quickly.

Chimaev not making weight generated a domino effect that ended in three changes to the UFC 279 main card.

Veterans Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson will headline the card in a scheduled 170-pound bout. Both legends have more than 10 years of experience in the UFC and are former winners of The Ultimate Fighter.

Khamzat Chimaev will now face the dangerous Kevin Holland at a 180-pound catchweight, while Li Jingliang will fight Daniel Rodriguez in the same weight class.

For many fans, the new line-up is more eye-catching than the previous one, thanks to the fact that now the fights will be more even and unpredictable.

How do they match?

Stylistically speaking, this fight is much more attractive than the original main event. Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson have proven to be true brawlers throughout their careers, both going "blow for blow", and the fans are always satisfied.

Both are on an important losing streak and will have the opportunity to get back to the win column.

They have 65 professional fights between them, with 46 finishes and an average of 70% in terms of submissions and KOs. We can expect great action between these two warriors and fan favorites, who are in the final stages of their careers, Diaz at 37 and Ferguson at 38.

While Nate Diaz's striking is based on volume of strikes and the ability to take punishment without quitting, Tony Ferguson possesses great power in his hands and never takes his foot off the gas. If there is an unspoken agreement and they fight standing, we will have a memorable bout.

If the fight takes place on the ground, Nate Diaz has a slight advantage over Ferguson, who also has extensive experience in the sport. Both of them are BJJ black belts.

The bout is very even in almost every aspect: height (Diaz 6'0'' vs Ferguson 6'0''), reach (76'' vs 76.5''), total fights (33 vs 32), age (37 vs 38), not to mention both won TUF.

These legends' careers are about to come to an end, and we don't know if we will see them fight again. Let's take this opportunity to enjoy two of the octagon’s most exciting fighters ever.
