3 QBs Are Bound For Breakout NFL Seasons In 2022

Two youngsters and one veteran quarterback are ready to set the NFL on fire during the 2022 NFL campaign

The 2022 NFL season is right around the corner, with all 32 teams currently in training camp and gearing up for another 17-game season on the gridiron.

As teams prepare for another football season, a few notable quarterbacks are on the verge of a breakout season. Two of these quarterbacks are young and looking to cement themselves as future stars, while the third is a veteran who may finally see all the championship pieces come together in 2022.

TUA TAGOVAILOA, MIAMI DOLPHINS

It's been a rough start to Tua Tagovailoa's NFL career, with plenty of ups and downs in his first two seasons with the Dolphins. As if battling back from a devastating injury in college wasn't enough for Tagovailoa, the Dolphins proved to be a mess internally, leading to the departure of Brian Flores and an owner whose morals were questioned.

Regardless of how things have transpired off the field, Tagovailoa has a chance to turn a lot of heads in 2022. The Dolphins recently acquired one of the best wide receivers in the NFL by striking a deal for Tyreek Hill with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The presence of Hill instantly gives the Dolphins' offense a new dynamic entirely in the passing, which should unlock Tagovailoa's ability to be a highly accurate and efficient quarterback.

It'll be a make-or-break year for Tagovailoa as he could turn into a Pro Bowl-caliber gunslinger or get exposed and head back to the bench. Instead, I'm bettering on the Alabama product putting on a show in 2022 while elevating Miami as a playoff contender.

TREY LANCE, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Although Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the 49ers' roster, head coach Kyle Shanahan has let it be known that it's Lance's team moving forward. The young kid out of North Dakota State has been handed the keys to the franchise in a season where the 49ers could again be legitimate title contenders in the NFC.

Of course, Shanahan is making a bold move by switching to Lance early in the 22-year-old's career, but ask Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs how that worked out with Patrick Mahomes.

Let's pump the breaks here, though. I am by no means comparing Lance to Mahomes, but they're in identical situations, and if the former No. 3 overall pick has what it takes to be a perennial Pro Bowler, he'll have his chance to shine in 2022 as the leader under center.

DEREK CARR, LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

As a three-time Pro Bowler, Carr has proven his worth around the league as a formidable quarterback that will have a long career in the NFL. That said, I'm sure this is an interesting choice to be a breakout star in 2022, but let me make the case.

During his career with the Las Vegas-Oakland Raiders, Carr has gone through countless head coaches, offensive coordinators and teammates. He's seen everything and gone through everything that comes with playing for a franchise that always seems to have some controversy or behind-the-scenes issues.

However, Carr will finally have a few things working in his favor this season. The drama, for now, is gone in Las Vegas. The team is starting fresh with Josh McDaniels, who is determined to prove himself as a head coach and the quarterback guru he's been known for during his time with the New England Patriots.

Secondly, Carr will finally be reunited with his old Fresno State teammate Davante Adams. The former Green Bay Packers superstar forced his way to Las Vegas to reunite with Carr, and that could prove to become the best quarterback-receiver duo in the game.

Although the Raiders have their problems on the offensive line and in the secondary, Carr's time to shine is now, and I believe he'll do just that in what could be a very prosperous year in Las Vegas.
