You’ve heard of soccer players exchanging jerseys and baseball players doing the same, but it’s rare that athlete and mariachi engage in the act.

That’s what took place when Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly, taken with the pregame performance of Mariachi Garibaldi, approached one of its members, Grover Rodrigo.

The moment plays out beautifully on Instagram.

Kelly, whose mother is Mexican-American, was taken with the music and offered a one-for-one exchange, jersey for jacket.

“Really glad he kept his word,” said Rodrigo, via NBC Los Angeles. “A little bit of me had a little bit of doubt, but I’m so glad it happened. I hope he treasures his jacket as much as I treasure his jersey.”

A typical charro suit jacket can run into hundreds of dollars. So, yes. I certainly hope Kelly treasures that jacket.
