Golfer Goes Full Happy Gilmore For Wonder Putt

Check out this physics-defying putt from Tim Petrovic at the US Senior Open.

I did not believe this clip was real. When this clip was sent to me, I thought it was this scene from Happy Gilmore. I really did.

If you think I am being over the top, here is the clip to the actual golf video.

This happened at the US Senior Open which is being held at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. There was definitely 'room at the inn' for this putt from Petrovic. Is that too cheesy? I don't care. Look at the shot again.

The U.S. Senior Open is one of the five major championships in senior golf. It was introduced 42 years ago in 1980. This tournament is technically open to amateurs, but professionals have unsurprisingly dominated it since its inception. Hampton is a professional golfer who has a PGA Tour win under his belt.

My favorite part of this clip is the announcer saying, "this is obviously what he was trying to do." It surely was not his intention, but as the saying goes, "I'd rather be lucky than good."

This clip reminded me of a 2010 putt from the Senior PGA championship. Johnny Miller asks golf legend Jack Nicklaus how in the world he would make a putt on the immaculate 10th green. Nicklaus strolls in and makes it seem like this putt was simple.
